Meet the Team

Sophia Cashman FRCS(Urol)

  • Sophia is a consultant urologist working in Nottingham University Hospitals, with a specialist interest in female, neuro and reconstructive urology. She has always taken a keen interest in medical education and training. Sophia is the Nottingham Urology department junior doctor lead, and  regularly teaches on local, regional and national courses including the BAUS FRCS course, BAUS core trainee course, and as part of the UNOTE programme. Together with Hari Ratan, Sophia hosts the popular FRCS Urocast podcast.

Hari Ratan MD FRCS(Urol)

  • Hari is a Consultant Urological Surgeon in Nottingham and a driving force in UK medical education. Currently the National Online Training Programme Director for Urology (UNOTE) and Deputy Director of Undergraduate Medical Education at Nottingham University Hospitals, he is dedicated to advancing surgical training at all levels. With over a decade of experience as a National Selection Interviewer and former East Midlands TPD, Hari actively leads BAUS endourology courses while pursuing an MSc in Medical Education at Oxford.

Daron Smith MD FRCS(Urol)

  • Daron is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at University College Hospital London, and has been involved in urological training across all levels. He currently serves as the Honorary UK Educational Lead for the PGVLE online training platform (UNOTE) and Board Member for Education and Fellowships for the EAU Section of Endourology. As a core faculty lead for the National Urology Boot Camp and Vice Chair of the Endourology Academy, Daron plays a pivotal role in shaping modern surgical curricula and training the next generation of urologists.
